d a n i i never wanted to say goodbye ;; Its impossible to outrun your past, did you know that? Well Dani or Daniel Hope Anderson did. She new so much about it, it seemed scary. Her past of her parents, her brother, her life. Everything, the only person or horse she could ever talk to was her best friend. Holiday, the one and only dappled three year old stallion. Leaning back to the world, watching her beloved stallion graze in the pasture. Tears drippled down her tanned colored face. She never understood why she had such a ugly past. She wanted someone to talk to, who could actully understand her. She loved talking to Holidy and even though to her it almost seemed he could understand she wouldn't be foolish to believe it. Eyes shut tightly she breathed in sharply, the smell of horses, the smell of life, the smell of the world. The memorys filling her head as she sank to the ground.
Screen Door Slaming Open her father yelling for someone to get him another beer, his friends piling in for the game. Remembering how her and her brother had hide in the closest till they had left, but thats always when it had happened, there father would beat them over and over. She could remember the day so clearly, remember when her brother said he was going to runaway. She couldn't nor would she. No matter how many times her father had beat her, she still loved him and wanted to help him, she couldn't just leave him. Lieing at school about the brown and black marks on her arms. But somehow she never did it good enough, someone had called child custidy, found her father was beating her, but soon after her father had drank himself to death. She didn't go to his furneal, she didn't think anyone did.
She never saw her brother again, nor has she. She wonders where he may be, wonders if he ever thnks about her. She wonders if he is still alive. But she knows even if he was alive and looking for her, he would never guess she owner a dapple grey stallion and had no friends. She had been adopted by a family who lived on a ranch, she learned everything to ranching, riding and cooking. Taking a shakly breath she stood, her legs where shakly from thinking so hard remembering very part of those days. Shewalked towards the paster fence, feeling as if she would faint. Light headed she worked her way though the grass to the white fence sounding the pasture her horse watched her in.
Grasping the white fence with all she had, she leaned on it, her slim body, and tan face, looked pale. Her blue eyes lost all there spark. And her legs where so shaky it scarred Dani. She didn't know what to do, if she should try to find some new friends, or if she should just be a loner with a beautiful horse. Remembering Holiday, it lifted her spirits. Turning to him, she was surprised to see him grazing next to her. Sighing she said so quietly and softly,

Curtis hooked the lead rope to the 18.2 hand stallions halter as he bobbed his head in anticipation to get out of the stall. He slipped his arm over the half door and unlocked the door, leading Seduction through, he re-shut the stall door and made his ways to the pasture. He looked out over the pasture, there was a dappled stallion already there, but Curtis didn’t think that would be an issue. He opened the pasture gait and unhooked Seduction’s lead. Immediately, the stallion took off cantering, the opposite direction of the other stallion, he wasn’t the type to try and fight another stallion. Making it to the middle of the pasture he laid down and began to roll in a large pile of dust.
Curtis smiled, glad there had been no issues between the stallions so it seemed. He turned and began making his way to the stables. His list for today included: turning out Seduction, which he just had. Then going in and mucking out Seduction’s stall, cleaning out the water and feed buckets. Filling the water and feed buckets and placing up a hay net. Then going back out to get Seduction and bring him in and groom him nicely. Then take Seduction our for some show jumping training today. Then after finishing the training, take him out for a hack. Then when he came back, he was going to give Seduction a thorough bath and groom him again before putting him in the stall for tonight. His daily plans were filled.
But then again, Curtis hadn’t been planning on any distractions in that list of plans. He stopped as he noticed the girl on the ground, shaking and crying. He hesitated, not knowing if he should go and try and help her or just walk on like he hadn’t seen anything. It would be wrong to leave her like that, but what if she didn’t want his help? Then he would have looked like a retard trying to help her. But if he didn’t help her and she secretly wanted the help, then that would make him a horrible person for just walking off and leaving her in this state. He took a step towards her and she was starting to get up on shaky legs.
His face blushed red in embarrassment, afraid that she may have thought that he was spying on her or staring. But she turned towards the fence and walked the dappled stallion that stood in there. Like she hadn’t seen him at all. She probably hadn’t, this place was starting to get crowded. What was so special about just another boy turning out their horse? Don’t answer that. He walked towards her, taking in her features. She was tall and slim, although her tone looked a little paler than it should be. But her blue eyes, they were gorgeous, yet there was no life left in them. He listened to her sweet voice that was barely audible as she spoke to her horse. His heart sank for her. Clearly, this was a girl that had been through some rough times. Rougher than his own. He leaned against the fence beside her, looking upon her with gray eyes.

d a n i i never wanted to say goodbye ;; Hearing a Voice it could sent her to the ground if she hadn't already got ahold of the fnce and was gazing at Holiday. Shifting her weight she looked to the side of her. A guy at a age around hers, was watching her, he was the most likely one who spoke. Blinking so suddenly she couldn't help but notice his grey eyes, and the gaged ears. She wondered if he had seen her crying, then that brought back to her eyes, she wondered if they where red? Embarrassed as heat ran to her cheeks, she glanced down. Wondering about what he had sind. Nothing is impossible. Implausible, maybe. But not impossible she couldn't help but agree with it but in life it means just the impossible and not the Implausible. Looking back slowly, she smiled. Tho it didn't reach her eyes, Dani couldn't help but wonder if her smiles ever reached her eyes anymore..?
Watching as a dark bay stallion rolled in the dusk out in the middle of the pasture, but hearing Holiday snort made Dani chuckle, Holiday had never been one to strike up a fight, maybe if the stallion came anywhere near Dani, but that could be because Holiday was a very jelous stallion and hated when his put her attention on another horse. True, but in this lifetime not everyone thinks positive 24-7 she said with a hint only a tiny hint of amusement. It was true, she new for a fact many people never thought positive herself included. Head over fence, Holidays dappled head watched the guy with caution, he had never liked guys, for reasons that would obvious for a stallion not to like guys. But still Holiday didn't make his usualy attemps to scare him away. Patting his jaw, he looked to her then to him and you could say rolled his eyes but of course they would be crazy, with that he returned to grazing, but you could tell that he still keep a eye on the stallion in the middle of the pasture.
She couldn't help but wonder what his name was, she figured she should tell him hers if she wanted to now his. Sheoften wondered if she should say her full name or her nickname. Seeing her name was a males name, Daniel and it was spelt the guys way, her mother had always been differant but not that Dani new, of course not. Herbrother new her for two years and that was who had told her about her mother since Dani never got to meet her. Im Dani by the way she had decided to go with Dani; maybe once they got to know each other she would share her real name, not that Dani wasn't her real name, more like a nickname but it till had nickname in it so there had to be some point didn't there?
Taking in his apprenace she had a small smile placed on her lips. She noted he had a t-shirt on, with jeans. His hair black and eyes grey- made a perfect match. She had always wanted to see soemone with actully grey eyes. She only had seen people with grey contacts to make there eyes that grey but she was almost sure he wore no contacts, simply becuase when wearing contact the is a outer line around the outside of the clor of the eye, and thats how Dani new or not if you wore contacts, and if they where color tinted. Call her crazy but that was just how Dani was, she could catch things mos people would miss and she never backs down from a challenage.

Curtis watched her silently as she seemed to try and smile. And she did, but it wasn’t really a smile. It was more like an attempt. An attempt that seemed to be plastered on her, like this wasn’t the first time in a long time that she had had to attempt to smile. That made him wonder how long it had been since she had actually smiled an honest to God true smile. He gave her a small smile, letting her know that it was OK and he understood her pain in a sense. Even though he didn’t know why she was upset. But did it actually have to be the same kind of upset? He didn’t think so. But right here, right now -- this is when he made it his own silent and personal goal to make it his job to get her to smile freely and put light back in her eyes. Why? He didn’t know, and to tell the truth he didn’t know here. There was just something there that made him want to try.
He watched the dapple stallion as he snorted at Seduction, and to Curtis, it seemed like the stallion was saying to Seduction, ‘what the hell do you think your doing out here?’ But the dappled one seemed to be just like Seduction and just didn’t care about fighting with other stallions, so long as they let them do their own thing. He smiled slightly. It was nice to see another well manner stallion around here. ‘True, but in this lifetime not everyone thinks positive 24-7.’ He turned to look at her, this was true. He knew a lot of people that were always being pessimistic. Something told him she was one of those people. Not by choice though, by past. And she seemed like the type that made attempts to be happy, but there was always something holding her back.
They lapsed into a comfortable silence. One that wasn’t awkward in any sense, just enjoying each others company. It was nice. He whistled for Seduction just to see the stallions reaction. Seduction stopped his rolling and looked up at Curtis, he let out a whinny and bounded into a gallop towards the fence. He skidded to a stop right in front of them. Curtis smiled, having him up close would show off his beauty. He was the perfect mixture between a Clydesdale and Tennessee Walking Horse, he didn’t have the oddball shaping that most crosses had, he was perfection. A blood bay with black knee’s and white stockings, a white blaze and a black mane and tail. Standing at 18.3 hands, he was a giant.
Seduction walked over to Curtis and blew in the boys hair before nickering again and spinning on his heel and taking off bucking across the pasture back to his dusty area. Curtis laughed slightly at the stallion, his looks wasn’t an oddball, but his personality sure was. ‘Im Dani by the way.’ Curtis looked over at him and felt himself blush. He had been rude and hadn’t stated his name yet. He smiled though, her name was pretty. Unique, but still pretty.
“I’m Curtis. And that oddball playing in the dust is Seduction.”
He looked over at her again, wanting to say more. He wanted to ask her what was wrong, he was the type of person that you could confide in and be comfortable confiding in. But that brought them back to the matter at hand -- they had just met. There was no way in hell she would want to share her issues with someone she had just met. A perfect stranger. But there was always that slight chance that she would. But would it be best to wait?

d a n i i never wanted to say goodbye ;; Grunting, Dani looked towards Holiday as he glared shiftly at the larger stallion come closer to them, towards his owner. Holiday had always been one to back away from a fight if it was pointless andfor some reason he always new what was pointless and what had a point. She could swear she was going crazy, she wouldn't be surprised if they put her in a mental hospital anytime soon. Chuckling at her thoughts, she sighed. Shifting her weight, she laned on her right foot, and watched as Seduction returned to his spot in the middle of the pasture. Smiling she looked back at Curtis. Blinking once or twice, she figured it would be nice for her to hare Holidays name- seeing he did infact share Seduction name. This here, is Holday at the sound of his name he looked up, looking to her then Curtis he snorted, trying to figure out what was going on between the two human minds.
After watching Curtis for a few minutes, heat flushed her cheeks. Looking to the ground she tryed to forget the look in those ghost grey eyes of his. Mentioning something about who knows. She had never been one to read eyes, but she could remember someone saying- she could almost say it was her friend Kelli but shehad said if soemone is thinking of something look at there eyes, they tell all kinds of storys. Thats one way she had cooned Dani into telling her the past. She had only few close friends, you could say she had lots of friends but really she only told those few ones what she thought she would never talk about. But being in a new place, a new world made Dani almost wish she had stayed in Wyoming.
Sighing, she glanced up to the sky, it was still early morning, well atleast 10am sometime around there. She didn't really have any plans for the day other then doing some shopping and maybe ridding later in the evening. Glancing to her sandals, she figured sandals wheren't the best thing to wear but when she had wore shorts she thought tennies wouldn't fit her outfit. Wearing a red tang top and dark blue jean shorts, and brown sandals she had thought the outfit to be perfect for the chilly season. Dani never cared how cold it was or how hot, she had been known back in wyoming to wear shorts and a long sleeve shirt in the dead of winter, and it got cold there. But she had never cared what people thought of her, because maybe if they new her past, they wouldn't think so differently about her. She was infact very differant from everyone else. So.. Where do you and Seduction come from?

Curtis watched as the girl watched her stallion. She had the same bond that he and Seduction had. Like they were the only ones that each other could count on. Seduction was Curtis’s life, as he was sure that Holiday was Dani’s life and vice versa. He smiled sweetly as she laughed at the dapple stallion. He had a personality, almost a human like personality, like Seduction, but Holiday’s was certainly more human than Seductions was. He laughed as the stallion had heard his name and looked up at him and Dani.
“He’s intelligent. He knows you’re talking about him and he cares for you. You can see it all through him. He’s defiantly your horse.”
Curtis looked at Dani and smiled. Call him crazy, he didn’t care, he spoke his mind, no matter how crazy it may or may not come out. Horses had the same emotions that people had and they could understand people to an extent. Maybe not the language, but the tone and body language and certain words spoke a lot. Like any foreign person soon figures out what certain words mean when they are used in the same way with many different people, horses did the same. Or at least Curtis thought so. He looked down at the ground and then back to the pasture, she probably thought he was insane by now.
He looked back at her as she asked about her and Seduction. He wouldn’t tell her the whole story, not yet. His father was a painful memory and he didn’t know what had happened to her to cause her to be so gloomy, so he didn’t want to end up saying the wrong thing by speaking of the unbreakable bond between him and his mother. He looked back out at Seduction and smiled slightly. He sighed though, she seemed to be calming down and cheering up a bit, he didn’t want to ruin that.

d a n i i never wanted to say goodbye ;; Chuckling, she blinked as she watched Curtis. Smiling she sighed, for once her smile hit her eyes but faded soon after. She couldn't make the smile leave her face, she just couldn't Looking to her shoes, she decided on what to say Guess, hes used to my voice seeing hes the only one I usualy talk to, we've been togather for three years, I got him when he was a yearling she said slowly as she looked back to Holiday and remembered the day she saw him, getting ready to be sold to the slaughter house. She wouldn't allow it. Her adoopted parents had bidded 2k for Holiday even tho he was abused and hated people, she new she could gentle him, and she did.
Sucking in a shaky breath she blinked as she glanced to the sky and blinked. CLosing her eyes tightly she remembered the days she would go skipping around the ranch yard, with her border collie trailing her. Not soon after she had Holiday trailing her behide Distiny. Her adoptive parents always said she had a way with animals, she could talk them out of being afarid. And it seemed that was what she had done. Shaking her head softly, black hair falling from her bum. Her bangs draped over her face. Quickly replacing them behide her ear she returned to his grey gaze. and finally answered.
Searching, she finally figured out what she would say. Of course she wouldn't say she was really from texas, but she would say where she spent the last 10 years of her life, living on a ranch in Wyoming. I came from Wyoming, been there for the last 10 years. I got the acceptance latter once I got home.. from er.. a friends house It was exactly a lie, but not the truth either. Really she felt she had to go to Houstin texas to see her fathers graze. Of course she visted her mother also, fresh flowers where placed. But she couldn't bare to bring up such a un-noble past, what would he think of her?

Curtis smiled as he watched her smile, the smile lit up her own face for a moment. But then it was just a smile, not the smile she had tried to put on when he approached, but a true smile. He couldn’t help but watch her as she looked at her shoes, as if embarrassed. He wasn’t meaning to embarrass her, if he was, he couldn’t help that. ‘Guess, he’s used to my voice seeing he’s the only one I usually talk to, we've been together for three years, I got him when he was a yearling.’ He figured there was more to it then that, like there was a story behind how she got him. Perhaps he had been at an abusive home? The majority of horses that were dedicated heart and soul to their owners had once had an abusive home.
Curtis smiled as she looked back up at him into his eyes. Not that many girls would look into his eyes. Girls seemed to have this weakness for pretty eyed boys, and having grey eyes that were kind of rare to be that gray, girls would get nervous to look at his eyes and would look away just a few seconds later. She held his gaze as she spoke and he listened carefully to see if he could find out what exactly was wrong with her. ‘I came from Wyoming, been there for the last 10 years. I got the acceptance latter once I got home.. from er.. a friends house’. He could hear the hesitance when she told him about the ‘friends house’. He wasn’t so sure if that’s serious about being at a friends house or not, perhaps she just wasn’t ready to tell him everything. That was fine. He smiled at her.
“Wyoming, I went there once or twice for a competition. My mom took me there. it’s a nice place, wouldn’t want to live there though, its not really a ‘me’ place.”
He had been there for competitions, it was more than once or twice though. His week schedule from the time he was 10 and up consisted of nothing but traveling to states to compete on different horses, only sticking to one permanent horse when he got Seduction. But his mother had him home schooled, talking to teachers for five hours a day on the internet and she had him all over the place, trying to make his name big and out there. She would always tell him that one day soon Curtis Axel would be a world wide famous equestrian name and he would have people looking up to him everywhere. He doubted that much, but he enjoyed the competitions and had came to about thirty or so in Wyoming alone. Traveling all the way to England once or twice for a competition. He and his mom were dedicated to it.

d a n i i never wanted to say goodbye ;; Watching as he told her had a few competitions in wyoming she almost felt misplaced. She hadn't really done much with Holidays training. She had always wanted to be a jumper and trying it a few times on a friends engliesh stallion she had loved it, she had only took Holiday over some smaller jumps but his his longer legs, and slimmer body many had said he could fly over any height. of course Dani would need to learn more about the event before she could make Holiday junp over anything she wouldn't dare him to. Shaking she had a urg to ask him what he completed. So.. what did you compete in? She asked as she looked back up at him, his grey eyes and black hair seemed to catch one eyes attention but still she just couldn't get her mind of how grey his eyes where, the thought was almost scary, she couldn't say why but they seemed to grey..?
Chuckling at herself she withdrew her gaze which then landed on Holiday who had moved from her closer to the middle of the feild anyone could see he was watching Seduction, no doubt Seduction new it too. She smiled slighty as Holiday would rise his head look around act as if nothign was up then return to grazing but his head was always pointed in Seduction's way. He never got 10 feet away from Dani and pride swelled up inside her chest, she never really thought about it, how much her and Holiday had been though but know as he showed her his heart layed she couldn't help but break out into a smile.
Remebering that Curtis was still there heat flushed her cheeks again. what was with her? She never new how many times heat had turned to her cheeks. Sure she was a shy duck mostly around guys but hey she had never been one to just go out and tho herself to become the center of attention, if anything Dani would rather stay in the background and wait for someone to talk to her, most of the time, she was with Holiday or talking to her mom. Sucking in a breath she turned her head to the stable, wodnering how it had become, she was told many peopel pushed and came from there some where stuck up, some where rude, some where the sweetest people, but some where just as shy as Dani. Thats what he adopted mom had said since she herself had come to this place.

Curtis couldn’t help but smile as he watched her softly with his gray eyes. She seemed so suddenly interested in what he had to say once he got on the topic of competing. He couldn’t help but feel a sudden rush of achievement, and he certainly didn’t want to lose the interest that she was giving him. He leaned over the fence slightly with his elbows resting comfortably on the top rail as he thought of all the competitions he had been in. And heck, she was so interested now, he doubted that the fact that he had been competing so long with his mother would touch a sore spot on her. But he didn’t mention his mother still, not until he was certain what was really wrong with her or he asked her. He wouldn’t lie though, he never lied.
“I did mainly English events, like show jumping and dressage and cross country. Every once in a while just for the heck of it I would do a barrel racing or pole bending show. Sometimes I’d go to Gymkhanas or those shows that people who have way too much time make up -- you know, the ones where its just horseback games, like racing to the end of a line and then dressing your horse up in a costume and racing back. We excelled in show jumping, dressage and cross country mainly. Its what we both loved the most so we put more effort into it. I’ve been competing since I was about eight. What about you?”
He laughed as Seduction seemed to feel the other stallions gaze on him and he looked up and whinnied softly. Silly horse, he was too kind for his own good. He always loved making friends, no matter the gender of the horse. He could get along with any of them. But not many of them felt the same, and on more account than one he had had his feelings hurt. He was so large and strong and stout that no other stallion had managed to hurt him physically, but whenever rejected he would lower his head and walk off sulking like a scolded puppy. He was such a strange horse. Curtis wouldn’t trade him for anything in the world though.
Curtis turned towards her and saw her break out into a smile as she watched Holiday. Such a pretty smile, it was a true smile. He didn’t know whether or not she had felt him watching her, but her cheeks had flushed over into a bright red blush. He laughed and smiled at her. She was so shy, it was kind of cute to tell the truth. Most of the girls here were straight forward like a tomboy. But she wasn’t, she seemed fragile almost. Like a thin crystal glass. Perhaps she was. Or perhaps she was scared of the world. That’s how Curtis had been when his father first left. That’s why he had started seeking more attention from his mom because of the lack of attention he thought he would receive, and his mom is how he discovered his love of horses. So they were alike in a way, that’s if he was right about his predicament that is.

d a n i i never wanted to say goodbye ;; Looking around, holiday snorted as he stared at the stallion, Dani laughed. Holiday acted as if he wasn't sure Seduction was nickering to him. Terning towards Dani his trusted it towards her, Dani had always taken that for permission, with a soft nod he though his head into the air and took of in one os his show winning gaits. of course he had never won any prizes for his gaits but in Danis eyes he was a winner in every eay possible. But hearing his voice again made her turn his head, she had done barrel racing on one of her parents horses but only did it for the fun, she never rally felt a passion for the sport. She had always enjoyed the jumping, her parents had though of her as insane but surported her in everything she did. One thing she would have never espected of her irth-father.
Chuckling softly, she thought about her first barrel race. it wasn't really a competition- it was with just friends. Dani had only competed in 5 all togather rodeos, one was a around the world rodeo she only went to a few states before she became alittle bored with the event you could say. but when she found her passion to jump she began looking for a younger horse she could train, hoping for a 4 or 6 year old. but again when she saw Holiday she couldn't turn away. Well, I did Barrel Racing for a few rodeos but thats it. I did them on one of my parents horses, but once I jumped on my friends horse I new what I wanted to do. Sice I got Holiday I have been working him on smaller jumps. But more then a few have complaint on such a beautiful jumper he would make. but I haven't been in any real events with Holiday.
What makes you so differant?
she blurted out. Heat flushed her cheeks once again, and she covered her mouth with her hands. How stupid could she be, of course she meant in personality. Every guy she had meat was pushy, wanted more then a friendship or only liked her for her parents money.. or for her body. She had always discouraged men like that but it seemed like everyone out there was encouraging them, but Curtis, that was the thing he wasn't like anyone of them, he was kind, patient, and whatever. She needed to clear her mind. But she couldn't look back at him, she was so blunt. She couldn't believe herself for askign such a question, he must think she was a total freak. But of course not every guy would turn out like her dad. She had to learn that but she wasn't ready to take such a chance. She didn't want someone who would beat the hell out of you just because you wouldn't get them a bear or beause of soemthing else, dani wouldn't think of. Closing her eyes so tightly she began to see white stras she tucked in a deep breath. Finally after regainign herself she looked at Curtis, grey eyes and all. Curtis listened softly, she too have played around with the western side of things, but like him, found no true happiness in it. There was nothing wrong with the sports, they just weren't something for him. You know? And apparently not her either. He turned his attention towards the dapple stallion and looked his confirmation over carefully.
"I could help you in the show jumping and cross country area's if you want. You two have a good bond, and with some gentle training, you would be taking the ribbons home with a breeze-"
He stopped in mid-sentence and looked at Dani. He let a soft smile break out across his face. What made him so different? Was it the fact that he actually cared? Or was it more than that? But she was covering her mouth and blushing like she had done something wrong. His smile faded as she seemed to refuse to look at him. He cupped her chin in his fingers and gently pulled her face up to look at him.
"Because I care."
He released her face and smiled softly once more. Wait, he didn't kiss her? Nope. Unlike most guys who would have found that the perfect moment to kiss her, he didn't. He didn't have to kiss a girl or touch them constantly to be happy with them. Sure, that was fun and all, but there were times for that. He was just as happy simply hanging out with them. He respected her.
He shook his head when she apologized. He wasn't about to accept an apology for nothing. This is where he decided that there was more to her past than she was telling him. There had to be, otherwise she wouldn't be being so careful. He looked over at Seduction who was now inching his way closer to the dappled stallion, head extended and ears pricked, trying to see if the stallion would accept his friendship. Stupid horse, when would he ever learn that not every equine is going to like him.
