i am all extremes. try to figure me out, you never can. there's so many things i am.
A large bang awoke a few horses in nearby stalls. Their eyes opened and blinked quickly, wondering what on earth the noise was. About to drift to sleep again, Adagio hung his head, his large golden ears drooping. Suddenly there was another bang and Adagio's ears shot forward, his dark eyes opened and he arose to his feet, shaking the shavings off his gorgeous coat and throwing his head over his stall door. Next door stood Ace, his rear facing the door and once more he picked up his hind foot, building power in his leg before releasing and kicking the stall door which shook, almost unable to stand this impatient horse.
"Right Ace, I'm coming!" shouted a voice from the feed room, a silouette soon appeared after. The girl bent down and used a hose to wet the feed in the two rubber buckets. She used a wooden spoon and mixed the feed in with the water. She stood up and moved towards the two stalls, her face becoming more clear in the light. She opened one of the stall doors and placed the bucket on the floor. A gorgeous buckskin tobiano dropped his head and began to tuck into his breakfast. She moved onto the next stall, a small bay Thoroughbred threw his head over the door and pinned his ears, defending his glorious breakfast. "Oh stop it, you twat, it's only me." Replied the girl, opening the door and placing the bucket on the floor, "There." She smiled, closing the door once more and returning to clean her mess in the feed room.
"Stand, Ace." commanded Riley as she opened Adagio's stall door and began to lead the other gelding out. "Now, I'll be quick to finish your beds, incase someone needs to turn their horse out." She explained to the pair of geldings as she manouvered them both in the turnout area and unclipped their leadropes leaving their leather headcollars on. She smiled, her new stables were fantastic, and this being her first day - she had a lot of exploring to do. She was able to ride twice a day as the school curriculum was much more flexible than back home.
She set to work mucking out Ace's stall, using the fork to bed up the clean bedding and remove the wet straw and manure which she threw in the bucket. She did the same in Adagio's stall before wheeling the wheelbarrow to the muck heap. She climbed up to the hayloft and filled a bag full of straw, she threw it down onto the aisle. She poured half into Ace's stall and the rest into Adagio's. She began to spread it evenly and soon finished both stalls, using a brush to neaten them up she nodded in satisfaction. Now, for her boys.
ooc: anyone? =)

It was Sebastien's first day back from a 3 week vacation in Australia. He never really wanted to go there, but he needed to get away from the 'real world' for a couple of weeks and just do whatever the hell he wanted. It was nice, but he realized he missed his horses about the first week into his vacation. Him and a couple of his friends went horseback riding on the white sandy beaches of Aussie.
So here he is, at the stables, he would be in Australia for about 4 more weeks, but he couldn't stand being away from home, it was all he really had. The stable was his home, it had been since his parents car accident. Even though he was three, he still wondered what would have happened if he was just a little bit younger, not being able to go to daycare, would they still be here? No one would really ever know, maybe everyone did run a clock, their life's just going by until their time on Earth runs out. It was a scary thought to think, to some people, but to others, like Sebastien, it never really crossed their minds. He was home now, and ready to do what he does best, taking care of his family.
It was pretty busy today, about five people in counting walked out of the stable horses in hand, most likely headed out to the pastures or the training rings. Training was probably the strongest point of Sebastien, but today he just wanted to relax and spend some quality time with his horses. Since he was gone, his cousin was here taking care of them and exercising them.
Walking into the busy stable, the sounds and sights filled the boy with joy. He walked past the stalls, some with horses sticking their heads out of their half stalls looking around at all the hustle and bustle, others were emptied ready to be cleaned. Sebastien counted the stalls in his head. ..5,6,7...1011, it was Jewels stall. The two year old Arabian trotted up to her door and stuck her head out or the half door, almost knocking over Sebastien. Sebastien smiled at his lovely little filly. "Looks like you haven't changed much girl.", he said reaching out his hand and rubbing her soft velvet muzzle. before the boys hand could reach the filly's forelock, she jerked her head away and made her way to the other end of the stall. Sticking her head out the window, she looked around, waiting for someone to show up.
Sebastien smiled and slid his hands into his pockets walking to his next horse, but the stall was empty. Shrugging he made his way to the next one, still no horse. Odd he thought, "If Jewel is here, then where is Rose and Newt?" he stood silent for a minute and decided to ask someone for help. Hearing footsteps close by, he looked up and saw a blonde headed girl walking out of an empty stall. She was the closet one around so he decided to ask her. "Excuse me," he asked, "have you seen a light dapple gray Gypsy Vanner about this high," he said stretching his arms above his head, "and a palomino tobiano Arabian, a little bit shorter?" He put his hands down and slid them back into his pockets. Looking the girl over he notcied he didn't recognize her, maybe she was new. before he could think, the words came out of his mouth, "Are you new?" Word Count:576

The stables were silent, only the occasional horse could be heard, pulling at their haynet or calling over their stable doors to one another. A few people had risen early, but since it was a Saturday most were still fast asleep in Dreamland. Riley couldn't sleep, she was up like a lark with excitement, as soon as her boys had digested their breakfast she was taking them out.
Riley pulled back her long blonde waves into a pony tail and secured it with an elastic band. She tidied away the tools before picking up the burgandy leadrope. Her long black riding boots echoed against the stable floor as she made her way down to the turnout area, but was stopped by a boy. When he asked if she had seen two horses she shook her in apology. "I'm afraid not, my two boys are the only ones out in the turnout ring. But I'd be careful if they are out, my Thoroughbred doesn't like other geldings or stallions." She explained, running her painted black nails through her pony tail, "He can be quite mean."
She pulled a piece of straw off her beige breeches and looked back at the boy as he asked if she was new. She nodded and smiled. "Yeah, just got here yesterday. What about you? Are you new here?" She asked, playing about with the leadrope in her hands.
At that point there was a piercing whinny. It sounded a lot like Ace and Riley didn't wait around to find out if it was, she smiled at the boy before jogging off towards the turnout area, and there stood Ace and Adagio, trotting around the turn out with two loose horses, a dapple grey Gypsy Vanner and palomino tobiano just like the boy had described them, but they weren't fighting like Riley had feared, they were trotting around like friends - a herd. The blonde stopped in awe. "Oh my..." she said, mouth gaping.

Thanks he said a little down. It wasn't like his cousin, or one of the stable hands, to just put out two of his horses and not the other. It definitely was strange, Jewel should never be left alone, either Newt or Rose should be with her, Jewel had really made 'no buddy syndrome'. Jewel was the trouble maker of Sebastien's, she was always getting into something and she was always hyper, so she really shouldn't be in the stalls right now.
Before the boy could give a reply to the girl, two loud whinnies could be heard coming from the turnout rings. The girl was off and Sebastien was right behind her. When Sebastien, he noticed that Newt and Rose were out in the turnout ring with two horses he hadn't he seen before. Unlike the whinny had suggested, the horses were playing not fighting, just trotting around the turnout ring. It was really weird to the boy to see his two horses out in the ring with horses he had never seen. An angry face crossed the boy's face, the stable hands or his cousin should have asked him before putting his horses out with strange horses, something terrible could have happened. The angered looked slowly began to disappear from his face as he watched his horses play.
Newt, the dapple gray Gypsy Vanner, was trotting happily around until he spotted Sebastien and he slid to a stop. The boy and the horse looked for a few seconds until the dapple gray gelding threw his head up and cantered towards the fence. Sebastien smiled and walked up to the fence, meeting his beloved horse. Newt nickered to him and lowered his head against the boy's chest. Sebastien let his fingers run through the gelding' s dark colored forelock, it was a little stringy feeling, but it was soft. Hey boy, I missed you too., Sebastien said patting the horses forehead. The Palomino Tobiano mare raised her head up from grazing and looked over at Sebastien and Newt, she gave them a whinny then returned her head back down to the grass. Sebastien shook his head, it was just like her, she would tell you how she felt plan and simple and then get back to whatever she was doing, which was mostly grazing.
Newt brushed Sebastien's chest with his muzzle before turning around to join Rose in her eating frenzy. Sebastien smiled and turned towards the girl, he still hadn't learned her name yet, he walked up beside her. Still looking at the horses he said, Sorry about all of this, I'm not sure who put my horses out here, but it wasn't very smart of them. I've gone for about three or foour weeks in Australia, so I had my cousin looking after the horses. I'll get them out. Sorry again. He slid his hands back in his pockets and watched his horses once more.

Adagio slowed to a walk, his ears pricked and his eyes looking at Riley. She smiled at him, he was a very sociable horse, around both people and horses so it hadn't really worried Riley if he was to be turned out with other horses, but Ace was more of a fighter than follower and if it was his turf, or his property then he would guard it. Riley couldn't really understand his actions, it might of had something to do with the fact that so many horses were turned out in the ring that there was too much scent and competition to beat. Whatever, the fact was that Ace was being nice and socialising with other horses.
As the Gypsy Vanner approached the boy, Riley let out a sigh. He was a superb looking animal, with a gorgeous, thick mane and beautiful feathering. He somewhat reminded her of a coloured part-bred Vanner she used to exercise for a friend in the summer. "He is stunning." she commented, slipping into the turnout ring and calling out to Ace, the gelding spun on his hocks and trotted up to Riley, tail held up high like he was an Arab. Riley let out a chuckle before taking a hold of his headcollar and clipping on the leadrope she manouvered him outside of the ring. Adagio called out to his mum, and friend, throwing his head up in the air, and calling out once more. Riley halted the bay Thoroughbred and continued her conversation with the boy.
"Don't worry about it," she explained with a smile, "Adagio is fine with other horses, it was Ace I was worried about. But this new experience must be calming him." She patted the gelding's muscular neck and let him graze at the side for a moment. "I'll be taking them out now anyway." she added. Ace swung his quarters and faced Riley, as if he was bored and impatient. "I'll see you around." she said casually, walking off with Ace trotting to catch up. She didn't mean to be blunt or rude in anyway, but she had a lot to do. Training in the morning, then in the afternoon, and both horses too. She returned a few minutes later with another leadrope and slipped back into the turnout area to catch Adagio, the tobiano was more than happy to follow and as Riley led him away, he let out a soft nicker, to his new friends.
ooc, bleugh. no muse.
