The sun was set high in the sky, although the air was still cool and crisp. It was around lunch time and Vision Springs was bustling with activity. Riders riding, owners grooming. The training rings held at least a rider each, if not more - most in a perfect outline or moving perfectly over a course of fences. Although one pair stood out.
Riley held tightly onto the reins and continuously nudged with her heels, trying to get Red to move forwards instead of prancing around like an idiot. "C'mon Ace, walk on!" She exclaimed as she sat deep in the saddle. The bay gelding wrose up in the air once more, he came back down to the ground and began walking sideways. She sighed and elegantly lifted her leg over the saddle and slid off Red's tense back. He was foaming at the mouth and acting like a prat. "I know something that will make you feel better," she explained, "Let's go out on a trail!"
She walked with the gelding, out of the arena and towards one of the pathways, Ace settled slightly, but still occasionally swung his hindquarters and started prancing. "Settle, Ace. I have no idea where we are going." she murmered to her Thoroughbred as a couple of riders trotted past. She smiled as Ace lowered his head, finally relaxing. She stopped him and quickly placed her foot in the stirrup irons, counting and bouncing before pushing herself up and sitting softly in the saddle. "Let's go!" she grinned, squeezing his sides and gathering her reins.
