Other? (appearance wise): Riata is a beautiful young woman, her outward appearance being very simplistic, not opposing her view of life or the way in which she lives it. She grows her hair long; it has a handsome, sexy wave when she takes time to coddle it, but generally it is a tousled, wind-blown pony tail. Riata never wears any makeup, perhaps the majority explanation of her beauty. Very raw, very real, much like her character. Her skin is colored a handsome tan, not achieved via a sun bed nor plastic bottle. In fact the sun has inflicted the glowing color that claims only her face and neck, and lower arm (below the elbow). The rest of Riata rarely sees the sun.
Riata's daily apparel is rather predictable. Footwear consists of either a heavy-duty lace-up men's work boot, or her riding boots. She is rather proud of the latter; square-toed with a high cowboy heel and brown bottoms. High tops (18 inches), blazing yellow. Accompanied, of course, by custom-made gooseneck spurs with the name "RIATA" engraved handsomely on the outer band, and admirable silver work on the inside.
Jeans, most worn with a hole somewhere to be found. Wrangler, Levi, 20X... All men's fashions, whatever is cheap at the feedstore. And the occasional Cruel Girl given as a gift.
A leather belt, soft from use, sporting a "Top Hand" buckle she won at her hometown ranch rodeo is 2003.
Riata is always found to be wearing either some raggy old t-shirt, or a long-sleeved work shirt, some too big, some with holes, sometimes with the sleeves rolled to her elbows.
And rarely to be seen without some sort of headgear, Riata is usually seen sporting either a baseball cap or her 'cowboy' hat; known as simply a hat to her and other ranch folk. In the summer it's a straw hat; avbout a 4 inch brim, creased just the way she likes. In Fall and Winter... A dark brown felt, creased similarly, both generally with some sort of feather propped jauntily in the hat band.

Personality: Riata is a simple person with simple, yet honest, values, morals and ideals. She believes that things are as simple as you make them, and that people all too often complicate things beyond repair. She's one of those folks who will tell you straight up; ask her a question, expect an honest answer. She's a devout Christian and spends more time reading the NIV than anything; she's not afraid to tell you her beliefs. If she thinks you are being stupid, be prepared for her to tell you so in a not-so-cautious manner. She's witty and has a sense of humor, but isn't the type to just start up a conversation. Riata doesn't have much patience when it comes to humans, but has plenty of temper in store for them. Animals, especially horses, she can deal with much easier.
Brief History: Riata was born on the the L7 Ranch of West Texas. A 130,000 acre ranch, her father managed the L7 as foreman, and continues to do so. Riata spent her days on Poncho, a gentle old ranch horse, galloping around bareback, when most girls were playing with dolls or playing house. She grew up around cowboys, and was part of the crew. She turned out to be quite a hand with a horse and a rope, and wound up starting and selling horses for money, as well as traveling to ropings and ranch rodeos, competing for cash prizes. It was this way (in addition to what money her parents were able to put in a college fund) that she put herself through college and achieved a Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science. (Seeing that Riata was homeschooled for all 12 grades, she started college at age 17, took summer classes, and graduated in 3 and 1/2 years.)
Other? (anything else you would like us to know?: Riata is not a licensed farrier, but in this day and age, you needn't be. She grew up shoeing her own horses, and offers her services as a part-time income.

Appearance: Jasper is a handsome short-haired dark brown dog. He belongs to no certain breed, only being known as a mutt cowdog. It is probable that he is of Border Collie, Catahoula, Black Mouth Curr, among other breeds. Jasper has pointed ears, a squared muzzle, and piercing green eyes.
Height: 23 inches
Personality: Jasper is extremely attached to Riata; she picked him out from a litter of puppies a neighboring ranch had, and took him everywhere. When she would go riding, Jasper would come along. She trained him to bring the horses in, and he knows her favorites by name. It's rather uncanny how brilliant he is... When Riata goes riding, she sometimes would try to keep him in the yard at the house. But Jasper would find a way of escaping, and sniff her out of all the other riders' and their horses' smells.
